When is switching Leeky Forums over to the real deal?

girlDog

As Googlezilla Chromefox gets more shit with every update, Vivaldi is closed source shit, Brave is advertising shit, Opera is cheap Chrome clone shit without features, Chrome and Safari are so much shit that words are running out to describe both...

When is Leeky Forums using something which is actually less shit?

Same. In a world of shit value propositions, Jewgle offers the most service in exchange for pounding my data bussy. plus sandboxing, not up its ass with open source drama, just werks, and so on. I have enough ram. So fuck it.

When will OP stop making shitty browser recommendation threads and sucking every cock he can get his hands on?

Evil_kitten

@Need_TLC
No. They decided to rewrite firefox because the firefox devs are doing everything they can to kill firefox branches while also repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot. The rewrite will keep goana (the forked gecko engine) and the GUI code as I recall. The plan is to be compatible, or almost compatible, with existing xul addons while not having to bend over backward to try to backport firefox's new features on an architecture that doesn't support the malware firefox relies on for these features.

@Evil_kitten
Pale Moon is dead in four years at most thanks to Servo and Webextensions, which will have APIs to hopefully accomodate every current addon more or less.
Then after that, with browser.html concepts backed by servo itself rendering the browser.

firefox devs are doing everything they can to kill firefox branches
Just because furfag doesn't have the resources to maintain his pile of shit doesn't mean that Mozilla is attempting to kill anything by doing work to their project.

Deadlyinx
Deadlyinx

Anything with webextensions sucks, because the support is simply not mature enough yet and the fact that Chrome is doing everything in their power to keep privacy respecting addons like adblockers as shitty as possible.

Firefox is still okay but it won't be soon.

K-Meleon would be fine but it doesn't use XUL.

Just use whatever browser you want user. Chances are you're cucked anyway and firefox is still passable with some tweaking.

Carnalpleasure

I'm waiting for the KDE Fiber browser. In the meantime, I just use Firefox.

Skullbone

@takes2long
You have no clue what you're saying. Webextensions is a joke and covers fuckall addons. In particular, it can't change anything UI-related and can't communicate with other addons. It will also take forever for servo to become ready at this rate anyway.

Beside, the way mozilla has gone so far, chances are servo and firefox will never be usable ever again in the firs place.

Also nice FUD, shill.

@Skullbone
and covers fuckall addons
"WebExtensions" doesn't mean that webextension APIs are set in stone.
it can't change anything UI related
XUL applications are garbage anyway, and Chrome has Stylish/Greasemonkey "built in."
Nice FUD
It's true, furfag doesn't have the resources, he launched some sort of crowdfunding and appealed for people to help him out and he can't keep up with basic security backports.
With every commit it diverges further and further, much like paddling yourself out to sea from a large ship, only to realize that you are fucked.
It might be fun as a challenge, but when it's clear no one but entitled autists who haven't developed anything, and aren't interested in started now, are interested in your software, you have no resources.
That's the grim reality with forking a large piece of software with one, or even several, men.

StonedTime
StonedTime

@BlogWobbles
Also chrome's inability to not be able to rice it's UI is a non-starter, Firefox has the ability to and every potential successor to XUL has this use case covered.

DeathDog

@BlogWobbles
I said as shitty as possible. Yeah, they exist, but they are garbage. And even if they aren't I really haven't bothered to look because fuck webex the majority of privacy respecting addons are not like a user agent changer, for starters.

So advanced. Maybe I should time travel back to before firefox was a thing too, huh?

@ZeroReborn
Implying I can't get those speed boosts on firefox, as well as about 500 webex doesn't support.

BunnyJinx
BunnyJinx

@FastChef
It's a basic example just showcasing to intercept and modify HTTP requests.
There's no reason why there can't be a "user agent switcher" or "ref control" and so on.
As well as additional APIs for needed use cases.
@FastChef
umatrix and ublock could be much faster on firefox, replacing the high level sdk with low level APIs will enable this.
you keep rambling on about "muh webextensions doesn't wurk no support for thing" when they're going to spend two years implementing low level APIs to do just that.
