What banned method is this Leeky Forums?

Main laptop had been permanently banned from a gaming site. Other computer will not work without vpn (ip banned), but other computer will work fine with a vpn. The main computer, the computer that I used when i got banned can't access that site even with vpn. It's like that computer has been tagged or something. What method have they used and how do i get around it?

Its possible they have banned the MAC address, or there maybe some cookies or other data on the computer that identify it.

If theres any software on the computer that was installed to access this server then this software may have created a machine identifier that the server reads.

Perhaps its just a MAC+IP ban where they banned both.

I changed the mac address to no avail.

I dont quite know. Some games like this will form a sort of machine ID based off of something, but I don't know how they do it. Idk if windows as a identfier or if it looks at hte hardware and forms its own key. I just dont know

A MAC address is a hardware address every single NIC has in the world, and every MAC address is different. Banning a MAC address would result in a single network interface being blocked from connecting to a server.

You just spoof a MAC address though. I don't remember how though since its been awhile but its not a hard thing to do.

If you don't know basic bitch shit like MAC addresses then maybe you should get a Apple computer.

MAC is a layer 2 protocol. The only MAC address information that leaves your home network is the MAC address of your router's WAN interface and is only used between your router and your Isp's router. No MAC address information is carried any further then that.

LAN MAC =/= WAN MAC
LAN MAC is your local laptop's NIC card MAC
your router also has LAN MAC. Basically for bridging purposes and shit, no one can get your MAC unless the hacker is in your network or you're using a shitty obselete NetBIOS protocol.
Spoofing your shit in the laptop will just do shit to the router (e.g, the public wifi banned you)

WAN MAC is given by your ISP and the website will never get any of these info (incl LAN MACs) except your ISP or your garbage windows OS that phones home your UUID and metadata for shekels.

You can't spoof your own LAN MAC unless you're on LINUX LIBREBOOT or Virtual machine. You can't spoof your own WAN MAC unless you tampered with your router firmware.

If it's a flash game probably supercookie.
If not then it's just a normal cookie.
If the game requires plugins then clear the fucking plugin.
Changing browser also works, avoid chrome.

Yeah, but a lot of software reads the MAC address and uses it essentially as a machine identifier for licensing. So even though the MAC address isn't visible in network traffic outside of the user's LAN, the client might still be reporting the MAC address (or some kind of machine ID hash of which the MAC address is one component) to the server.

was not banned for cheating. If it was as simple as changing id, i would not be asking for help.doesn't matter what id i use, it know the computer is banned.
Probably cookies, use vpn+incognito
cookies is all clear. Incognito won't do anything. vpn work fine on other computer but not the computer that got banned while i was using it.

I have delete and reinstall flash, I have use a different browser with a different vpn to try and access this game. If i was not being clear before. On the banned computer i can use a VPN to play the flash game but NOT the game that got me banned. The game that got be banned is not a flash game. It require me to download a .exe/binary file that said it may require "administrative access to your pc"

The MAC address isn't sent past your local router. there's no way for the site to see it, much oess ban you based off it.

OP, it's probably a combination of IP and some sort of cookie (that's why the computer that you were on when you were bannedis still banned when behind a VPN). Try clearing your cookies. If that doesn't work, they may have used a more inventive place to store the tagging information. There should be an option somewhere in your browser called "clear browsing data" or something like that. Use that to clear everything, then try to use the site.

If even that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall your browser of choice, then try again. If even that doesn't work, then the site is probably using some crazy NSA method of identifying you and shouldn't be trusted to use tbh fam.

@AwesomeTucker
If they're smart they can use a combination of hardware and/or filesystem details and leave room for minor changes but most likely it's just your MAC address. Change your network card and see. That means, make sure the old one isn't also still in the machine.

combination of hardware and filesystem details

The only way they could do that is with flash or another similar plugin. You should disable flash, both as a security precaution and to prevent being fingerprinted.

MAC address

As I said in @Booteefool
, the MAC address is not visible outside the local network. They cannot see his MAC address even if they wanted to, so they certainly couldn't ban him based on that.

With software running on his computer it changes things a lot. Even if he changes the one he's using there could be another or some virtual interface with an ID that could be sent to the server.

Having read the comments losely I figure there is some confusion over OP's issue.

As I read it, OP is using a website that has a flash game and ALSO a downloadable software game. He can't play the software game anymore but the flash game works still.

Is this rite, OP?

correct, the flash game play just fine but this game, the game that got me banned require a software to play. It's a .exe/binary type file. The file said it "require administrative access to your pc". I have tried every possible combination to get it to work: uninstall/ install/disable flash, new/different browser, different vpn, delete history/cookies, flash cookies etc. It just know that the computer is banned, seem there is no way around it.
If there's any software on the computer that was installed to access this server then this software may have created a machine identifier that the server reads.
This user might be on to something. It's not a big deal, it just bother me that I don't know how they did it to bypass it.
