Obamacare

I can't into the American economy. Aside from taxing citizens a shitload of money for not having health insurance, could anyone explain why Obamacare is such a bad idea?

@SniperGod
that's the crux of it as far as I know

but to add context to it you are being coerced to buy a service by the government that you may not be able to afford

@SniperGod
Because only rich people can afford it.

Go look at the premiums on that shit it's absurd. I could lease a new Mercedes for what some of those plans cost per month.

@SniperGod
it doesn't, we end up paying for through taxes.

Also cuckservatives made sure that if universal healthcare happened then the insurance/healthcare industrial complex would make shekels off of it.

That's the only way that it even passed to begin with

Fewer people are covered. And those who have coverage have less of it. Obamacare was NOT single payer or universal coverage. It is merely an order for all Americans to buy private insurance under IRS penalty, and an excuse for insurance companies to double and triple their rates while increasing deductibles and reducing coverage.

Obama, Reid, and Pelosi basically got down on their knees and sucked off all the insurance, drug company, and hospital CEOs in a massive bukkake orgy. The cum wasn't even dry yet on their whore faces when they passed the bill.

And they say Republicans are the big business party.

1) Subsidizing health care for poor people has made premiums sky rocket for people that don't qualify for said subsidies.

2) To skirt the requirement that employers with over 50 full time employees provide health insurance, companies are just cutting peoples hours so they're not full time anymore.

2) Even with free healthcare through expanded Medicaid and Obamacare subsidies, niggers and Mexicans still just go to the emergency room every time they have a cold.

3) To cut costs, many of the largest Insurance companies are discontinuing PPOs and only offering HMOs. If you've never dealt with an HMO, just know that it's a pain in the ass, especially if you need to see a specialist for anything.

4) Does not address the fact that Insurance companies still have government sanctioned regional monopolies. Insurance companies should have to compete across state lines.

Because it does nothing to fix the main issue with excessive medical bills which is overpriced drugs

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/healthcare-reform
Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

This most likely means disregarding copyrights and importing generic drugs from China and India, but healthcare should largely be an exception to copyright laws as it damages the nation as a whole and only benefits drug companies who would do fine otherwise anyway.

I'm not even talking about rich people. I'm talking about working class people, trying to make ends meet. They don't qualify for Obamacare tax credits or medicaid and now their insurance premium are 30% high for the whole family.

This is one of the issues.

Most of the issues come down to monopolies (legalized by regulation) and over regulation.

My dad was in the hospital 2 weeks. The bill came out to $250,000. No expensive treatments, just a few tests and a nurse emptying his piss bottle.

This is why healthcare is a disaster. It should have been sub $25k.

Forcing people to buy something at 10x what it's worth is not a solution to a problem.

Trump's plan to remove the artificial barriers to competition will make it so that healthcare costs will drop and health insurance along with them.

@SniperGod
why is obamacare bad

I had health insurance until obama came along. Since Obamacare has been a thing I have had 3 jobs that each had their own insurance packages.

Let me backstep a little. In the past when your employer offered health insurance there would be a low level insurance that had a cheap monthly rate and basically only covered emergency room visits and only so much. This traditionally would be the plans that 20-30 year olds would get because the odds of them getting ill are low. And if you wanted more coverage you had options from there.

Now the minimum plan that they are allowed to offer you covers ridiculous shit that you dont need AND the cost of your insurance is through the roof because your premium needs to offset the niggers not paying for any of their health insurance.

So now back to the beginning of the post.. the cheapest plan I have seen for a family once you have a spouse and one dependent you count as a family for the plan, someone with one kid basically subsidizes all his neighbors that have more than one kid. .. Well anyway that plan was $165 per week** so more than $600 a month. Which at the time amounted to a solid 40% of my net income.

Which .. what ever you'll need insurance anyway right? the deductible for that plan was $11,000 meaning unless you got $11,000 in an emergency pocket change fund, and will incur more than $11,000 in medical bills, you would never be able to actually use the insurance. Its a giant fucking scam 'you must buy something that you cant afford and will never use'

Obama also lied when he said "you can keep your current health plan."

He then flip flopped and said he was misquoted. So he's forcing a really bad system on people.

Too many idiots think of "free healthcare" as some magic thing where no one pays for anything and EVERYTHING is covered.

That's bullshit. In Canada, your income taxes go towards their "free healthcare" program (it even says so on the Government of Canada site), and it doesn't even cover everything. It really only covers certain drugs, check ups on the doctor, and some tests. The rest you need a healthcare plan through a company or your employer.

On top of that, Tommy Douglas, the founder of the NDP in Canada and introduced medicare in Canada, had to balance the budget when he was the Premier of Saskatchewan. He had to balance a huge debt left over by the previous Liberal government and created a budget surplus. That's the only time he decided to bring in universal healthcare, when he had a surplus to play with, because he knew it would be expensive and someone had to pay for it.

One of my relatives moved to Indiana in 2000. She claimed under the American system, before Obamacare, she paid less in health care costs, cause she is only paying for things she and her family needed and they found a really good doctor to help with my cousin's allergies and other health problems. Hell in Canada, I had to go to a doctor's unlicensed practice (he has a licensed practice too somewhere) to get certain tests that had to be sent to the States. He found a ton of problems with me and helped me a lot.

As for the "State lines" Marco Rubio doesn't know about, as stated here, if companies were allowed to compete across the entire country, prices would go down. Guess what? Trump is right about that. In Canada, companies are not restricted to provinces. They can offer coverage nationwide. Sunlife offers their insurance nationwide, Scotiabank (through their ScotiaLife insurance company), and other companies.

@SniperGod
Mandatory health insurance only benefits the insurance companies and the medical industry.

Case in point: My father.

The man is old enough to retire, and he could retire right now, but the cost of insuring himself and my mother makes it impossible to retire.
The health insurance he would be stuck with wouldn't cover any major medical events, vision, or dental, so there's no point in enrolling in it.

Obamacare has made it impossible for my father to retire because he's forced to pay for something that does nothing for him. He pays out of pocket for doctors visits, glasses, and dental even with a good health insurance provider.

I was forced onto Obamacare last year due to tax penalties. Unfortunately, I signed up late and got stuck with a 1k tax penalty. That's just another 1k added onto my student loans.

For being such a good thing, Obamacare has cost my family 4 more years of work and 1k in debt to the IRS all for nothing.

I've been poor for the last few years, living within my means but now it's a finable offense to live.

THANKS OBAMA

Reading this makes me wonder if the American anons here can send in complaints to Donald Trump so he can use it during his campaign.

Instead of just saying "Obamacare is a disaster" all the time, he can add to that by bringing these issues to light at his rallies, on his website, and even form it into debate points.

BTW guys if you are doing your taxes, remember:

If you don't have insurance, you can claim that the coverage is too expensive and this is an exception from having to pay the IRS penalty.

That's right, the governemt lets you claim the "affordable healthcare" is not affordable and it works.

Give me a way to contact his campaign advisors, not a bullshit link, and I'll tell them about my dad.

His premiums went up, the coverage went down, and he can't retire until he hits medicare age because of the price of insurance.

Dear Mr. Trump,

I've been following your campaign for a significant amount of time, and realized you were the real deal during the debate in which you told the world that you lost friends on 9/11.

My father planned on retiring after he had a series of minor strokes, but has been forced to continue working because the insurance premiums imposed upon him by Obamacare are too large to pay using his retirement funds. His insurance plan also doesn't cover the services he uses most including vision and dental. President Obama has forced my father to work for four more years when he would gladly retire.

During your rallies, you bring up Obamacare and how it's bad, but you don't give explicit examples of people that have been ruined by Obamacare. I believe the emotional testimonies of real Americans will be enough to sway people still on the fence about Obamacare and the policies proposed by Bernie Sanders.

IIRC coverage is geared mainly to women and homosexuals. It covers fucking AIDS medicine. I distinctly recall that for something that affects both men and women, I think STDs, women have much more covered types of events. If you need dental or vision, you're fucked. If you're a young man, you basically don't get shit. Some stuff that does more strongly impact man isn't available until they're old.

I'm disgusted by the whole thing. It's forcing people to buy something from a private business, worsening the type of monopoly that insurance companies have. Insurance is a fucking racket, anyway. What if everyone was forced to buy a new car or get penalised? I am in favour of universal healthcare but not some piece of shit money-grab like this. Makes me so fucking mad.
