A decentralized imageboard is our best option at this point. Except it's not as easy as it sounds. Well, it IS easy to establish one, I could make you one under 10 minutes. But a decentralized imageboard with sufficient redundancy, integrity, security, and reliability, in order to make it usable and impossible to take down at the same time, represents quite the challenge.

I'm working hard on the idea, and I'm not the only one, but there's no moving to another imageboard or board to repeat the same mistakes.

How was that a mod sanctioned raid? From what I remember, I got home from work, saw the raid in progress, and started banning/deleting raid threads and answering questions. In that post, I even explicitly state I am going to be deleting and banning raid threads. How can people manage to construe this so far out of context when I am directly stating "it's best to keep deleting threads that are made as a part of the raid". I was trying to warn people that moderation was gonna be strict until the raid ended.

I think most of us who have been here some time have become very skeptical of these mods or vols or whatever you want to call them. Don't get me wrong, I think this place is the best hope for Leeky Forums and another exodus this soon will probably be detrimental.

But Leeky Forums is an important community, both to us and for the world, and we need to have some more accountability for the people in charge here.

It's very obvious mods take their duty way beyond keeping the board clean from spam and illegal stuff. They want to shape the discussions here. Take for example racial discussions, they are being deleted pretty fast. Now, I've picked up some argument about why (no source, just something I remember from somewhere,) that this is because it has been discussed to exhaustion. But has it? New people coming to Leeky Forums miss out on such a big part of our collective base of understanding here. If discussing the place of race-mixed people in our society is not allowed here, it should be stated clearly and why. If it's because it triggers some sensibility in some mod… that's just unacceptable for a community such as ours. There are lots of other topics that seem to be "off limits" and it's all pretty vague.

Now, what I'd like to see is something like this: the mods could keep a log of what they do, with a clearly stated reason why. The board log doesn't give any information like that, but setting up some kind of system for this can't be that impossible. Even if it was some other page. Something at least, anything, to be able to hold the mods here a bit more responsible for what they do. When threads with good discussions going on just suddenly vanish without any stated reason, people get fucking suspicious, and rightly so.

Also, I've always been very much in disagreement with this "no fun allowed" attitude the mods have. Spam and duplicate threads, fine… but general talk and shitposts, that's what made Leeky Forums good in the first place. OC comes from fun and I don't see much OC these days.
