IT'S HAPPENING!

Ohio Gov. John Kasich finally got the memo. Following Donald Trump’s resounding victory in Indiana on Tuesday, NBC and other news outlets are reporting that Kasich will suspend his campaign in a statement in Columbus, Ohio, at 5p.m.

The decision is to drop out is stunning only in that it’s such a reversal from Tuesday night, when the Kasich campaign sent out a memo promising to see the race through. Kasich was the last remaining contender against Trump after Sen. Ted Cruz suspended his campaign Tuesday night following his drubbing in the Hoosier State.

“Tonight’s results are not going to alter Gov. Kasich’s campaign plans,” Kasich chief strategist John Weaver had said in the memo. “Our strategy has been and continues to be one that involves winning the nomination at an open convention.”

Not yet. Sanders gave her a lampin' last night in IN.

Nevertheless, it's reasonably safe to assume she will win atp. It would be hilarious beyond belief if the DEMS, not the GOP went to a contested convention though.

I think a month ago. Trump needed a running mate, but Kasich rejected the offer for whatever reason. His representative proclaimed "because he is the only one fit to be president." Kasich really screwed up.

@RumChicken
No. In Burgerland politics user it's not typical for a candidate to announce a running mate until after he's secured the party nomination at the party convention. The stunt Cruz pulled was just a desperate gambit which I'm sure the Koch Brothers directed him in to try and spoil the vote for The Donald.

Who, BTW, alluded much earlier that he was going to tap a 25+ yr Washington Insider. Kasich certainly doesn't qualify in that regard.

TechHater

Who do you think should be Trump's running mate? Jeff Sessions would be a decent pic, also Ben Carson or Rand Paul. I hope he pics someone who has a reputation for defending our civil rights whoever it is.

I'm pretty sure Donald Trump is actually a moderate. That's why he will win the White House. Trump people said he want's an insider who really knows the ropes inside the Beltway, and who will know how to get shit done. McConnell certainly is all of that. Remember Donald Trump is not a politician yet, and knows that he doesn't know that job I think.

I guess we should know for sure come July though.

He's a politican. He's what he needs to be to get votes.
On soime issues he already backpeadeled, because they proved to be to extreme. Depending on how the coming months go, as well as the debate (let's not forget how easy he was handeled 2 (or 3?) months ago, after only 4 nomiees were left, and it became apparent that he couldn't just throw quicxk jabs and shit but had to actually argue), he might either shift towards a more left leaning position on some issues or stay where he is ast the moment.

I know people supporting him don't like to hear this, but much as Trump is a leader and a motivator, he is not a Washington apparatchik. That means he will be absolutely unfamiliar by all the red tape and bureaucratic bullshit he will face as President, and this will only serve to frustrate him. Trump is not used to being stopped in his efforts after so many years of being a successful businessman, and it would be a constitutional disaster if he tries using some of his business practices in the Oval Office (I'm not alleging corruption, just things that are constitutionally binding).

Whomever Donald Trump chooses as VP must therefore be an experienced politician with absolute loyalty to him. As for who that is, I have no idea. But that's the criteria he will need to fulfill.

This is a good point and one He and his people are well aware of ofc. This is, in fact, why they have stated they want a Washington insider as the VP, so he will know exactly how to navigate the tangled mess and cut to the chase in implementing President Trump's policies.

However, we've all seen how good they are with their rules. On the other hand, the RNC leader is calling on them to unite behind him now for the first time last night.

Trump said yesterday:
"“As president, I’ll be working from the first day with my vice president and staff to make clear that America will be changing in major ways for the better,” Mr. Trump said in a telephone interview on Saturday. “We can’t afford to waste time. I want a vice president who will help me have a major impact quickly on Capitol Hill, and the message will be clear to the nation and to people abroad that the American government will be using its power differently.”
